San Giorgio Boutique Hotel (Mykonos, Greece)

Design

“From the outside it looks like another lovely little whitewashed coastal hotel on Mykonos, an island where they’ve pretty much perfected the form of the lovely little whitewashed coastal hotel — but trust us, San Giorgio is something special” via http://www.tablethoteles.com

This Boutique Hotel has a great origin story: “It all started when one of the owners, Mario Hertel, cruised into town on a fifty-foot party boat. He’d loaded the thing with his friends — DJs, dancers, party promoters — with the sole ambition of having a hedonistic summer on the island, and soon his roving beach parties were the most happening in town, even in a town with a lot of nightly happenings. The famed parties caught the attention of Mykonos’s then-struggling Paradise Club, which enticed Hertel to come on board to revive the place, and within a few years it became one of the most famous dance clubs in Europe, treating party-happy island-hoppers to shows by the likes of Moby, David Guetta, Avicii and a full marquee of other top performers.”

By just a few minutes away from the coast, the hotel is actually and extension to the club and still gets to be a very tranquil and peaceful place to be. It’s amazing what this hotel has come to be now, after it was just a struggling little nightclub and it’s safe to assume that their new hotel is going to continue standing out from the competition for years to come.

The house is rich on Aegean views; the beach is just three minutes away by foot (And you can actually enjoy the other beaches around that are practically deserted); the pool is just as blue as that ocean seen at the background; hammocks, loungers, peace; the restaurant is classified as top-flight with a Mediterranean meals and a bar to match; and God the rooms, last but not least, 32 quality boho contemporary rooms made of pure tranquility and sweet getaways, filled up by sunlight and beachy  breeze.

This would be a great getaway, I personally am imagining myself travelling just like Julia Roberts on Eat, Pray, Love swaying on these hammocks, dipping in the lagoon-like pool and meditating on the loungers, eating fresh, drinking expensive, gazing at the ocean .

“As a guest, you get VIP treatment at Paradise Club, a place where getting in the door at all can otherwise be a challenge; that means skipping the lines, access to the VIP room, free transfers there and back, and priority table-booking privileges. And given that the hotel is owned by the unofficial mayors of the Mykonos nightlife and hospitality scene, they know all the best other restaurants, bars and clubs to send you off to — should Paradise itself be insufficient.”

As a seasonal Boutique Hotel, San Giorgio Hotel is not open through the months of November to April and requires a minimum stay of three nights.

Take the Greek paradise to your home interior!!

Design

Inspire yourself to recreate the easy, relaxed atmosphere in your own home.
Greek interior designs are actually very easy to achieve and a very comfortable look to live with.

The style is very simple and minimalist, it’s rustic and it’s all represented on the walls, which are always white.
Your bedroom should always be simple, not much decorations.

For the pops of color, use mediterranean blue, turquoise, or yellow.

**DO paint woodwork in a different color, if not varnish, wax or stain them. -Hardwood flooring on Terracotta tiles are always better to represent Greece floors, BUT also a stone floor will work as well.
**Wall hangings: Choose thick, textile, woven wall-hangings, in deep rich colors in geometric shapes. They will make an interesting room, with texture and color
**You don’t need very much furniture for authentic Greek interiors, just keep it all very simple. But if you do, use quality wood furniture.
**Choose low-level furniture – benches, floor cushions and coffee tables – for a very relaxing, easy-to-live-with style
**ACCESSORIES: Choose bare windows, or very simple window treatments, such as wooden shutters, paint them blue for a very authentic Greek interior design look.
**Add plenty of rustic pottery, to get a really authentic Greek interior design look. Go for natural clay, or pretty, brightly colored, painted glazes and patterns.
**if you’re living in a cool place, it’s ok, you can still have you greek-like home interior. Just add more cushions, more throws, wall hangings, pillows, curtains, rugs, more texture, and change colors to warmer ones like yellow and terracotta instead of blue. Exclude the stone floor and use the warm wood of terracotta… In this way you can bring the sunshine of Greece to your home 🙂

We all dream of GREECE

Design

Maybe when you see pictures of Greece, you see beaches and wonderful views, specially that famous Santorini landscape with precious white houses with blue heavenly painted doors. And yes, we’re right on that one, you’re not to blame… But let’s talk about the greek interiors for a moment:

We all dream either to travel or to live in Greece, and I think you should all know how greek interiors work.

We can experience a divine interior, all white. So serene, so quiet, so peaceful. I can say one of the characteristics is about minimal architecture in which the details are seen later, on the furniture, just like the pops of color, prints and textures.
